Guide
Hardcoded vs soft subtitles.
Soft subtitles are separate tracks that can usually be disabled or removed with a muxing tool. Hardcoded subtitles are burned into the video pixels, so they need visual cleanup.
When to use SubtitleEraser
- The captions remain visible in every player.
- There is no SRT, VTT, or subtitle track to remove.
- You need a cleaner source before adding translated subtitles.
When soft subtitles are better
If subtitles exist as a switchable track, removing the file or track is usually cleaner than visual AI cleanup. SubtitleEraser is for cases where the text is already part of the picture.
Try the AI subtitle removerIf the subtitles are burned into the frame, continue to the remove hardcoded subtitles page or the broader remove text from video hub.
